The Star's Lightning Visit to the Foot Specialist - His New Love Tagged Along

Here she is, Peter Forsberg's new girlfriend.
"Her name's Michelle and she's from Canada", he tells Sport-expressen.

They've been seeing eachother for two years. But this time the NHL star has chosen to keep the relationship secret.
"Yes. I don't want to talk about my personal life. It's a decision I've made."
Michelle tags along during the superstar's lightning visit to Sweden.

The couple flew from Newark right after Foppa's game with Philadelphia in New Jersey this past Saturday. They landed in Stockholm early yesterday morning and then continued from Arlanda to Örnsköldsvik where dad Kent Forsberg met to help with the bags and further transport to Foppa's gigantic house at Veckefjärden, just outside the city.
But it's not the first time Michelle visits Foppa's hometown. She was there for a brief secret visit this summer that went undetected by the media.

This season she's been seen waiting for Foppa after several of the home games in Philadelphia but they don't live together and they are not engaged.
"No, we're not", Foppa confirms. He has chosen to lie low with his newfound love since the separation from Alyssa Rome who he was together with for a couple of years in Denver.

"I don't mind talking about hockey and what I do on the rink, but I don't feel like venting my private life. At least not for the time being", Foppa says.

His parents Gudrun and Kent have met Michelle several times this past year, both in the USA and Sweden. Foppa has also introduced her to some of his closest friends on both sides of the Atlantic. According to his friends they "get along real well" and they describe her as "a great girl". She's working on the American East Coast but visits Foppa in Philadelphia as often as she can.

Now they are spending four cold winter days in Örnsköldsvik.
"No problem", says Foppa. "She was raised in Canada. She should be able to handle the cold."

He will relax with friends and family but also visit foot specialist Peter Hedström in Umeå and watch his beloved Modo take on Mora tomorrow.
"It'll be fantastic to watch them play in the new arena", Foppa says.

About the arena. Foppa doesn't just have his own lounge in Swedbank Arena. He owns 40% of the arena. Without his money and bank guarantees the new arena never would have been built.
"It's just fun to be able to help. Modo has a special place in my heart" says Foppa.

What do you hope the visit to sweden will do with your foot?
"I have some new ideas how we can fit my right foot in the skate that I'm going to discuss with Peter Hedström. That's all I'm saying."

But things are heading in the right direction?
"Yes they are. I hope we may soon have a 100% solution."

The foot problem will decide your future in the NHL - both regarding this season and the coming, right?
"Yeah, you could say that."
